Dan Strong is one clever man. He has created a successful marketing gimmick known as “Strip Walking” on the Las Vegas Strip. He walks up and down the strip selling advertising on his t-shirt.
On average, 17,700 people are walking on the Strip at any given hour on any given day. During peak times there are as many as 40,000. (Source: Las Vegas Sun)
During 2010, once a day — rain or shine – he will walk from Mandalay Bay to the Fashion Show Mall and back while wearing your t-shirt — up one side of the Strip and down the other. He already has 43 days sold and they are going fast.
“Some days I’ll go the opposite direction. Sometimes I’ll go through the casinos and sometimes I’ll stay on the street but I’ll always go where the crowds are. I’ll do a short video promo for each advertiser and I will document my walks every day through video, pictures, blog and various social media outlets (twitter, facebook, etc.). I’ll also track my route in real time via GPS.” – says Dan.
Each day costs $1 more than the day before. January 1 is $1 and December 31 is $365. Dan is projected to earn $66,795 walking 3 hours per day, or $61 per hour. Quite a paycheck for a clever gimmick!
